Book Description: Scarce, particularly so in a DJ. Blue cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine. Boards are in very good order. Slight bumping to corners. Slight blemish where the original lettering was applied. Minor bumping to spine ends. Slight age discolouration to endpages. B/w photographic frontispiece. Textblock is in good condition, clean and tight. 304 pp. Many b/w illustrations. Blue paper dust jacket with black and white lettering to front and spine. DJ edges are creased with numerous small nicks, particularly around the spine area. Some loss at the corners. Rather grubby. The DJ is protected by a removable plastic sleeve. Not price clipped. Book Description: It is understood that "Sidney Hall (1788–1831) was a British engraver and cartographer well known and popular for his early nineteenth century atlases containing maps of the United Kingdom and of the ancient world reproduced from Hall's engravings. Hall made engravings for a number of international atlases at a time when cartography and atlases were very popular." Undated, c1863 from inscription. Old rebind in black cloth with gilt lettering to spine reading "Atlas". Scarce. Boards have some staining, hint of damp. Corners are bumped, as is top & tail of spine. Patterned end pages are darkened, particularly to edges. Blank page to front creased and slightly torn. Previous owner's mark to early blank. 46 maps all as called for, some folding, all with boundaries coloured. Folding maps of Scotland slightly pulled from binding leading to slight edge markings. Book Description: Green cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine and front. Boards are marked and generally grubby. Corners are bumped. Board edges are grubby and rubbed. Spine is age darkened with bumping to ends. Volume has been professionally rebound, using the original cloth. The original spine has been relayed. The hinges have been reset. Endpages are heavily stained. Bar the fep, there are no pages prior to the title page. Hinges have been professionally repaired. Early pages are a little grubby, and are worn at the edges. Small stains throughout. Some foxing. 560 pp + adverts. Previous owner's mark to ffep. When securely packed this item will weigh in the region of 533g. (YBP Ref: 3401/33 15)
